The band initially broke throughwith 1997'sUnder the Western Freewayand the NME-praisedsingle "Summer Here Kids." The band's sound,” atmosphericelectronics meet warped Americana”, crystallized on 2000'sSophtware Slump, which was met with breathless hype and earnedthe band "Next Big Thing" status. Tireless rounds of internationaltouring and mountains of fawning press led to 2003'sSumday,increasing album sales, more touring, more press,TVappearances, and a slot on the main stage at the Glastonbury festival. The bandproduced anotherEP,and an album entitled Just Like the FamblyCat,before disbanding in 2006.Following a brief live reunion in2012, Grandaddyfully returned in 2017 withLast Place, their firstalbum in over a decade, which was embraced by fans andacclaimed by critics. Asold-outtourwas cut shortby theunexpected death of Kevin Garcia, and all future plans werecanceled indefinitely. In 2025, Grandaddy will rise again for it's first North American tour in over 20 years in celebration of the 25thAnniversary of their landmark albumThe Sophtware Slump.KGAR 4EVR
